The swan has always enjoyed a privileged place in the history of decorative arts related to water. It embodies divine grace and metamorphosis, and was a central figure in the story of Leda and the Swan in Greek mythology, where Zeus takes on the form of a swan. The traditional craftsmanship process used for this collection is what makes it so fascinating. Each swan hatches from a solid brass casting, which is then transformed by craftsmen specialising in chisel work, who carefully carve out each feather with a chisel. Hours are spent on this minutious craftsmanship to give each piece its unique character.
In the same way, the real crystal handles are cut using traditional techniques worthy of the major crystal makers. This rare combination of metal and crystal in the world of bathroom fittings contributes to the collection’s unique visual signature.
While the 24k gold plating – carried out using a traditional gilding process – represents the most classic expression in the collection, the Winged Swan can also be more demure. Cristal&Bronze offers a range of nearly 30 metal finishes, which opens up the possibility of choosing more understated colours such as Polished Nickel, or patinas.
